Songs about love.

With Valentine's Day quickly sneaking up on us, I've decided to compile a list of my top ten favorite songs about love and what they mean to me.  I tried to steer away from sad ones because no one likes being sad but I do have some sad favorites.  NOT because I'm not happy, the beauty of the song is just too hard to pass up.  I hope you enjoy.

1. Bluish by Animal Collective: This song is so incredibly beautiful to me.  The fact that it is by one of my favorite bands does help.  To me it's about just being emotionally and physically in love with someone.
2. Ho Hey by The Lumineers: This is one of the sad songs that I wasn't sure I wanted to include.  At first listen, it sounds happy because the chorus is so cute but the verses are my actual favorite, singing about love lost and missed opportunities.  However you take it, it's just a good song.
3. Thirteen by Big Star:  Listening to this song takes me back to high school.  It's so juvenile and innocent and simple. I first heard it during an episode of That 70's Show during a flashback of Eric and Donna's relationship and that just what this song is: young high school love. 
4. You Da One by Rihanna: I am so in love with this song.  It's pop and happy.  It also reminds me of Michael.  Though it's not the style of music we usually listen to, its just too fun to pass up with a cute message.
5. A Case Of You by Joni Mitchell: Looks like I'm on a roll with sad songs! I promise I'm not sad! Songs like these are classic for a reason.  This song, I just love to sing out loud.  Joni Mitchell's voice is like something I've never heard and this song is just so devastating.  If you don't feel anything when you listen to this, I don't know whats wrong with you.
6. No One's Gonna Love You by Band of Horses: The title is so deceiving.  This is such a great song.  To me, it's about a relationship on the edge but a great declaration of love. So beautiful.
7. For Emma by Bon Iver: I can't even with this song.  I could listen to this all day.  It's peaceful and beautiful and I can't ever get over Justin Vernon.
8. By Your Side by Sade: The only way to truly describe how much I love this song is to tell you that I want this to be the first song I dance to at my wedding.  It would be perfect.
9. Myth by Beach House: Another heartbreaker.  I can't ever really put into words what this song means to me or the memories that come with it.  It feels like the end of something, honestly.  Victoria's voice is also just amazing.  I could listen to Beach House all day.
10. Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap: This is mine and Michael's song.  This song means everything to me.  Honestly, even when we argue, this song will play on the radio or somewhere, it was like magic and we would just be ok again. Got us through tough times but also reminds me of all the good.
